Mario maker and titles like that such as Yoshi, Dokey Kong, etc are usually filler titles for the years afterwards. A new Mario does not have to launch with the system, but is a safe bet that another one will. 2D has to be out of the question her3, I would bet a 3D Mario again. Probably a bigger world than the last one will be created and just call it number 2 or something.
May even be released on the Switch as well since it is still very popular.
