I’m not embarrassed, but might be because the kid focused games I enjoy also offer challenge for more experienced players. Back in the 80s and 90s, practically all kid focused games were hard as balls 
So playing games like Donkey Kong Country, Mario Kart, or Splatoon while kid focused, still have highly skilled modes or levels so advanced players don’t get too bored.
