Qassam and al-Quds brigades claim series of attacks on Israeli targets

The armed wings of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad say their fighters have:

  • Shelled Nahal Oz in southern Israel
  • Detonated a booby-trapped tunnel in Tal as-Sultan, west of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, killing and injuring an unspecified number of Israeli soldiers
  • Destroyed a Merkava 4 tank with an al-Yassin 105 rocket in Shaboura in the Rafah refugee camp
  • Shelled from southern Lebanon an Israeli military command centre in northern Israel

Nuseirat homeowner recounts Israeli attack

Manar Abu Sidra, the owner of a house targeted by Israel in the Nuseirat refugee camp, has described the moment of the attack and its aftermath.

“We woke up around 3:15am after a missile fell. I went downstairs and found all this destruction above our heads,” he said, visibly distraught.

“We have no connection to any organisation. Two of my daughters were killed. Four of my relatives also died. There were more than seven wounded, including my father and my sister.”

Central Gaza under attack as it lacks medical supplies

The focus of the Israeli bombardment is currently on the central part of the Gaza Strip. Casualties are being taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah as staff are exhausted and departments are struggling to provide the minimum healthcare for injured Palestinians.

What they have been observing is that a large share of the casualties were children. The attack on the Bureij refugee camp has injured at least four children who underwent surgery, including amputations.

Al-Aqsa Hospital is taking in the injured from Bureij and Nuseirat and is responsible for providing medical care for 700,000 displaced Palestinians inside Deir el-Balah as Israel continues to ban the entry of medical supplies. This adds to the misery as the hospital struggles with a severe lack of resources.

Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City is also operating with a very limited capacity and few supplies. Doctors we’ve been speaking to say they need to carry out critical surgeries but are unable to do so.

At least 12 reported killed amid ongoing strikes in Gaza

At least seven people have been killed and several injured in an Israeli raid that targeted a commercial establishment in the town of Abasan al-Kabira near Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

Al Jazeera correspondents said at least one person was killed as Israel bombed a house in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.

At least four Palestinians were also killed in a raid in central Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp.
