Wanted to bring back this forum back. Because as of right now, the Nintendo Switch has passed the NES/Famicom in terms of time between first being released in the market and release of its successor.
I'll just share the link to my Google Sheets: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IyH4FilVTvUXKypDi3IsRo5aVn2IicyNMVeEJ8Wh1uk/edit?gid=0#gid=0
But pretty much the Nintendo Switch has already passed the NES, and we still don't have an official reveal of the successor only that it will be announced this Fiscal Year.
Plus it has passed the PS4 and XBOne in console gap and sales.
And it is still selling well against the PS5 and XBX/S.
Now the real big question is will it pass the Xbox 360 in console (the longest running console ever).
Switch vs Xbox360 | Console Gap(Days) | Sales (Millions) |
Switch (so far) | 2688 | 141.32 |
Xbox360 | 2923 | 85.81 |
As you can see, the Nintendo Switch successor would have to release after 235 days if the Switch is to pass the Xbox 360. Pretty much after March 4th, 2025 as stated in the past.
