Syrian army confirms Israeli attack on Baniyas

The Syrian military has confirmed that Israeli forces launched an attack on the northern port city of Baniyas.

Earlier, we reported that local media and the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that two explosions had been reported on the outskirts of the city. Syrian media reported that the targets at the port were linked to Iran.

In a statement, the Syrian military said there was damage to property but no casualties following the attack.

The Israeli military, which has carried out dozen of officially unacknowledged attacks on targets in Syria, has yet to claim responsibility for the latest attack.
