Well, it's official now, Piranha Bytes has been shut down. Admittedly, they haven't been at their greatest ever since Michael Hoge left the company (he was Lead for Gothic 1 and 2), but they kept on making their sort of game quite successfully. I guess thee won't be anymore Gothics made by them.
That said, I'm eager to see how Gothic 1 remake will turn out - there was major backlash from fans after the first demo, and it seems they completely went from scratch after that, so that's promising - if they prove they can make something that is true to original, yet with some careful modern improvements, maybe their will be another Gothic after all in the future (and by that I mean proper Gothic, not crap like Arcania).
