Palestinians trapped in Shujayea as ground invasion intensifies

Israeli air raids and artillery shelling continue in northern Gaza.

Starting with Beit Lahiya, the Indonesian Field Hospital received a critically wounded child and her father after their house was targeted in the area. Israeli forces also targeted another home in Jabalia as well as in Gaza City’s al-Darraj neighbourhood.

In Shujayea, Israeli forces’ ground incursion continues into its fourth day. It’s still intensifying. Palestinians there say they are trapped, surrounded by artillery shelling and air attacks. They do not have food. Some people are wounded and ambulances have not been able to reach that area.

It’s also very difficult for journalists to go there.

Six killed in Rafah

Israeli forces bombed a family home in western Rafah, killing six people including children, reports the Wafa news agency. Others were wounded from the attack, it said.

Israeli artillery attacks also injured more people further south in Rafah, while air raids targeted several towns east of Khan Younis, including Abasan and Khuza’a.

Number of killed in Gaza rises to 37,877 with 86,969 wounded

At least 37,877 Palestinians have now been killed in Gaza during Israel’s war on the coastal enclave, the Health Ministry says. The toll includes at least 43 deaths over the past 24 hours, a ministry statement said. Another 86,969 have been wounded since the conflict began on October 7, it added.

The death toll is likely far higher with thousands of bodies buried in the debris of bombed buildings.
