MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

Modders are trying to bring the first The Crew game back to life
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/modders-are-trying-to-bring-the-first-the-crew-game-back-to-life/
Ubisoft shut down the official server for the first The Crew game on March 31st, 2024. And, since the game never had an Offline Mode, it’s completely unplayable for everyone who has purchased it. However, that may soon change as modders are currently trying to bring this game back to life.
(… rant against Ubi and online only games…)
Anyway, YouTube’s ‘whammy4’ shared the following video. This video showcases the game running on a server emulator. In this video, we get to see a little roadtrip from Detroit to Black Hills. And, from the looks of it, most of the game’s features appear to be working properly.
There is currently no ETA on when this server emulator for The Crew will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Arx Fatalis Remaster Overhaul Mod, Arx Insanity, has been indefinitely delayed, but here are some new screenshots from it
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/arx-fatalis-remaster-overhaul-mod-arx-insanity-has-been-indefinitely-delayed-but-here-are-some-new-screenshots-from-it/
In November 2020, we shared a demo for an upcoming remaster overhaul mod for Arx Fatalis, called Arx Insanity. Sadly, though, it appears that things are not looking that great for this ambitious mod.
Team leader Pedro Ordaz revealed that the Arx Insanity development team has been disbanded. Most of the team members have left the project. Because of this, official releases are now paused. As such, there is no ETA on when the mod will come out.
At the moment, the modding team consists of only 2-3 active members. So yeah, don’t expect to be playing Arx Insanity anytime soon. Not only that but the 2020 demo is no longer available for download. I don’t know why the team took it down, but the demo is no longer available on ModDB.
Now while the mod has been indefinitely delayed, the team did share some new screenshots from it. These latest screenshots showcase the graphical improvements it has made to this classic RPG. So, if you are a fan of Arx Fatalis, you should definitely check them out.

If you'd like to play Elden Ring as a powerful bare-fisted Dryleaf monk (but don't want to wait 100 levels), this mod lets you get Shadow of the Erdtree's gear right away
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/if-you-d-like-to-play-elden-ring-as-a-powerful-bare-fisted-dryleaf-monk-but-don-t-want-to-wait-100-levels-this-mod-lets-you-get-shadow-of-the-erdtree-s-gear-right-away/
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has added dozens of weapons to the game's already 300-strong roster of kit—if you're looking for a primer, you can read our illustrious Sean Martin's legendary weapons guide, though I'd recommend letting yourself discover them spoiler-free on your first playthrough.
However, if you're done and dusted with the DLC, you might see its roster of cool stuff and decide hey, I'd love to do a playthrough as a Dryleaf Arts monk. After all, Margit's long overdue to catch these hands.
You then may quickly remember that you need to be around level 100 to kill Radahn and Mohg to access the DLC—unless you're one of those sicko mode level 1 players, and even then, that still requires a ton of prep and practice that could be spent kicking the Tree Sentinel in its stupid face.
Well, never fear—the Glorious Merchant is here to enable your fantasies. An older addon created by Nexus Mod's tomclark, this mod plonks every weapon in the game—including Shadow of the Erdtree's kit—on Merchant Kale, the first wares-peddler you meet in the Church of Elleh.

A Stardew Valley modder has decided to weed out the weak with a hardcore mode that'll delete your save if you look at the wiki
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/life-sim/a-stardew-valley-modder-has-decided-to-weed-out-the-weak-with-a-hardcore-mode-thatll-delete-your-save-if-you-look-at-the-wiki/
There's a lot more to Stardew Valley than meets the eye. At first, this cosy life sim seems like a piece of cake; all you need to do is farm produce, sell it, expand your homestead, and hopefully make some friends along the way. But the reality is that there are so many ways to go about this and so much more under the surface that it can sometimes feel like you have no other choice but to check the wiki for help.
Looking at the wiki or guides for extra information is by no means a bad way to play Stardew Valley—I spent a good deal of time searching for what certain villagers like and dislike so I could get them the best presents. But after being inspired by a HardDrive post (think The Onion, but for games), one player decided to make a mod that would do away with these helpful tips for good.
The modder, who goes by Sylvie Nightshade, made a SdvHardcoreMode mod which will delete your save file if you so much as dare to open the wiki. "It does this by scanning the title of every window open on your computer and erasing everything if any window contains 'Stardew Valley Wiki' in its title," Nightshade says in the description. "I taught myself SMAPI in two hours for this."
Despite this mod being nicknamed Hardcore mode, it's more of a joke than anything seriously difficult. Considering it doesn't account for other guides or Google searches, as long as you tread carefully, you should still be able to search up whatever you need to know without the fear of losing everything.
