Blinken tells Israeli officials to avoid escalation with Hezbollah in Lebanon

Hezbollah aerial footage said to capture attack on north Israel military site

Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic have obtained and verified video footage that is said to show an aerial strike by Hezbollah forces on a military site in the town of Metula, in the north of Israel.

The attack on what appears to be Israeli radar and communications infrastructure may have been carried out by a Hezbollah attack drone. The strike comes amid intensifying cross-border clashes between Israeli and Hezbollah forces.

Israel’s military said its air defences successfully intercepted a “suspicious aerial target” that had crossed from southern Lebanese territory late on Thursday night. A “rocket and missile fire” public warning was activated during the attack and interception, the military said.

Israeli warplanes also attacked sites in the Lebanese villages and towns of Hula, Tallouseh, Meiss el-Jabal, Aitaroun, and Yaroun on Thursday night, while artillery also hit several locations on the southern Lebanon border, Israel’s military said.
