We'll see how much difference there is between the 7800X3D and the new "plain" 9000 series. The 5800X3D was also technically faster than the 7000 chips, but the difference was small in most cases, and sometimes it was even slower by a small margin.

But yeah, if you're mostly interested in gaming, waiting for the X3D parts makes more sense.
