The PS1 certainly wouldn't have been as successful since SquareSoft originally intended to make a N64 Final Fantasy until they realized how much Cartridge space it would require. However the Saturn was failing internationally due to cost so the PS1 would have picked up a respectable 2nd place and with Nintendo's refusal to use standard DVDs for the Gamecube the PS2 would most likely be the dominant system (the PS2 was an extremely cheap quality DVD player at launch) , MS would have entered the market to counter Sony and for growth purposes making this generation about the same.
