At this point, I believe Ukraine should do it anyway. I think the US might just be secretly hoping Ukraine would do so despite them keeping a facade of not allowing it.
It's not like the US will cut Ukraine's support before an election when the electorate supports it.
There are only 2 outcomes possible Either
A) Russia uses nukes which I don't believe is a credible outcome
B) Russia try to expose/prove such use so that NATO cuts its support, but in this case, Ukraine and the West could use the same bullshit Russia used when they first used Shahed drones. Simply deny it. Let Russia be the one making a futile effort to gather evidence that NATO would just shrug off as non-credible.
