Israeli soldier killed in northern Gaza: Army
The soldier killed has been identified by the Israeli army as 20-year-old Ariel Tsym. Tsym, who was from Modi’in, was part of the Nahal Brigade, the army added. On Friday, four Israeli soldiers were killed and several wounded in fierce fighting in northern Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighbourhood.
The army says 272 Israeli troops have been killed in the war on Gaza since late October. (as well as 336 on October 7)
Israeli military says Palestinians killed in fighting in Gaza’s Zeitoun
The Israeli military reports heavy fighting in the Zeitoun neighbourhood in northern Gaza City, saying its Nahal Brigade was supported by air raids during an invasion of the area. It said it killed an unspecified number of Palestinian fighters, including a fighter belonging to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad who was involved in the October 7 attacks.
The military also released an image to claim that hand grenades, mortar shells and firearms were found in the raid.

Translation: The first moments after Al Jazeera correspondent, colleague Anas Al-Sharif, received the news of the destruction of his house in an Israeli raid on the northern Jabalia camp.
I guess Lavender AI has put Aljazeera journalists on the Hamas target list, if they weren't on there already...
Israeli attack in northern Gaza captured by Al Jazeera
Our Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent Anas al-Sharif says he and his team were in the middle of reporting when Israel attacked an area not too far from their location.
“Thank God we miraculously survived. During press coverage of the occupation’s targeting of citizens’ homes east of Jabalia camp, an area close to us was targeted,” he said.
In a video posted on X, people can be seen running frantically in the streets to seek safety following the Israeli attack.

Israeli military invades Jabalia again as Hamas ‘reconstitutes militarily’
Along with other neighbourhoods across Gaza such as Zeitoun, which the Israeli army has been coming back to repeatedly, Jabalia in the north is also being invaded again.
This is happening because Hamas is “reconstituting militarily there”, says the latest report by the Critical Threats Project and the Institute for the Study of War, two US-based think tanks.
It also noted intensified operations in the south. “The Israeli military expanded its evacuation orders for civilians around Rafah, extending the evacuation zone to two refugee camps and nearby neighbourhoods.”

So much for Biden putting his pinky toe down, he's crawled fully back into Netanyahu's pocket again
Biden: Gaza ceasefire possible ‘tomorrow’ if Hamas frees captives
US President Joe Biden is putting the ball in Hamas’s court in mediated negotiations to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and an exchange of prisoners.
“There would be a ceasefire tomorrow if Hamas would release the hostages,” Biden said at a fundraiser outside Seattle, after avoiding the topic at three similar events on Friday.
Israel this week rejected a ceasefire and captive release agreement after Hamas agreed to it.
Israel is determined to press ahead with its offensive on Rafah, where 1.4 million displaced Palestinians are sheltering, in defiance of warnings from the UN and its allies, including its key military and political backer the US.
