I agree with you about how impressive the sales are for a console in its 8th year and without meaning to be pedantic, the only year that beat this 1 out was 2021.

Animal crossing and the pandemic was 2020. That year probably would have beat this year out too, if it wasn't for shortages. This years' week 17 is still mightily impressive tho.
