Palestinians march in Ramallah against Israel’s deadly Nur Shams raid

Ramallah residents condemned the killings of at least 14 people in three days of the Israeli army’s incursions into Nur Shams refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.

Social media showed the Palestinian protest in a video verified by Al Jazeera’s Sanad agency.

Nur Shams raid ‘worse’ than second Intifada attacks

Here, in the Nur Shams refugee camp, Palestinians have started reassessing the vast damage. They say if you go inside towards the middle of the camp, you will see more and more destruction.

Family members say there are Palestinians who have been killed, but their bodies were taken by Israeli forces before they left.

We know from medical teams that the bodies of 14 Palestinians were taken to Palestinian hospitals. First responders, the medics, were not allowed to go in to get the bodies or help the wounded. More than 30 Palestinians were injured.

The feeling here among Palestinians is what is happening is a targeted demolition. It’s a difficult situation and will take a lot of time to fix. This raid was on an unprecedented scale. People here say it’s worse than Israeli raids during the second Palestinian Intifada in the early 2000s.

PA ministry assesses Israeli damage to Nur Shams refugee camp

The Palestinian Ministry of Public Works and Housing has begun cleaning up the camp following the destruction made by Israeli forces during their invasion over the past few days.

In a statement, Minister Ahed Bseiso said crews have begun working on opening roads, removing rubble, and assessing the initial damage to the infrastructure in the camp.

Bseiso said the damage is “severe” and includes roads, buildings and shops, and the electricity network.

Residents of the camp, whose homes have been destroyed in the Israeli military onslaught, are being aided with alternative accommodation as their homes get rebuilt, the ministry said.
