Russia struck two food export terminals at Ukraine's Pivdennyi port today, one of which is owned by a Singaporean company. Agricultural products destined for Asian and African countries were destroyed in them.

Dear partners in the Global South, this is Russia's true attitude towards you, your food security, and well-being. Russia is willing to harm people in your countries in order to achieve its insane goal of destroying our country at any cost.

This is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a deliberate Russian strategy to cause maximum damage to Ukraine and the countries that rely on Ukrainian agricultural goods.

This attack was already the 39th Russian strike on the Odesa region's port infrastructure. In total, 215 objects have been damaged or destroyed.

Since Russia killed the Black Sea Grain Initiative last year, it has been systematically targeting Ukrainian port infrastructure in an attempt to disrupt our food exports to the global market.

Despite this constant terror, Ukraine managed to establish its own grain corridor and ship over 40 million tons of cargo in little more than six months. This is more than the amount transported during the entire year of the Black Sea Grain Initiative’s functioning.

Ukraine has always been and will continue to be a global food security guarantor as well as a reliable partner for our Asian and African customers. We will make every effort to ensure that, despite Russian terror, our products reach those who are waiting for them.

However, simply watching us struggle to maintain food exports in such difficult circumstances is insufficient. Two steps may and must be taken.

First, Ukraine needs strong air defense to protect its agricultural export infrastructure and corridor.

Second, we need a broad participation of our Asian, African, and Latin American partners in the first Global Peace Summit in Switzerland.

Showing unwavering support for the UN Charter and international law is another way to put an end to terror that seeks to deprive us and you of our normal lives.
