Part of the MAGA's shtick is to be "hard on China", so if US continues to do nothing, it is basically acting in the interest of China. It seems like a politcally strong move for the incumbent government to reveal any and all extent that China supports Russia.

The US has basically done nothing for half a year, as the Russia's allies strengthen them.
