UNRWA chief tells Israel ‘no time to boast’ amid humanitarian disaster
The Israeli government earlier released a chart allegedly showing it is allowing a lot of food and life-saving supplies into Gaza, but the head of the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) challenged that claim.
“No time to boast,” Philippe Lazzarini wrote on X, adding aid to Gaza is nowhere near enough.
Six months into the war, Israel is allowing in an average of 150 trucks per day, whereas as many as 700 came into Gaza before the war, he noted.
“This is a man-made catastrophe. It can still be reversed through political will and decisions.”
No time to boast, humanitarian supplies to #Gaza are far from enough.

US already preparing their veto for tomorrow
US criticises new UNSC resolution on Gaza
The 10 elected members of the UN Security Council have put forth a new resolution on Israel’s war on Gaza, shortly after Russia and China vetoed a US-drafted text on Friday.
The new draft resolution demands an immediate humanitarian truce for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan “leading to a permanent sustainable ceasefire”, according to The Associated Press news agency.
It also demands “the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages ” and emphasises the urgent need to protect civilians and deliver humanitarian aid throughout the Gaza Strip.
The Russian, Chinese and Algerian ambassadors have urged council members to support it, but US ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said the text’s current form “fails to support sensitive diplomacy in the region. Worse, it could actually give Hamas an excuse to walk away from the deal on the table."
Arab countries declare ‘full support’ for new UNSC resolution
The Arab Group at the UN has declared its full support for the latest UNSC resolution on Gaza, which was sponsored by the 10 elected members of the council.
The draft document demands “an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan respected by all parties leading to a permanent sustainable ceasefire,” according to a statement by the Arab Group.
“In this Holy Month of Ramadan, the most sacred month in Islam, the Arab Group appeals to all members of the Security Council to act with unit and urgency to hold the bloodshed, preserve human lives and avert further human suffering and destruction. It is long past time for a ceasefire,” the group said.
The UNSC is set to vote on the latest text on Saturday. It comes after Russia and China vetoed a draft resolution proposed by the US, saying the document was “a effective green light for Israel to mount a military operation in Rafah,” where more than a million Palestinians are sheltering.
US fighter jets bombed Houthi weapons storage sites in Yemen: Report
US fighter jets from the USS Dwight D Eisenhower aircraft carrier bombed three underground storage facilities in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen late on Friday, a US official told The Associated Press news agency (AP).
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a military operation not yet made public, told the AP that the aircraft carrier is in the Red Sea.
Earlier, the Houthi-affiliated TV channel Al Masirah reported that US and UK militaries carried out two raids on al-Sabeen district in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. Al Masirah also reported four other attacks in Sanaa’s al-Wahda district.
The US raids are aimed at putting an end to the Houthis’s campaign of drone and missile attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, which the Yemeni rebel group describe as an effort to pressure Israel to end its war on Gaza.
Houthis condemn US attacks on Yemen’s capital
A spokesman for the Houthis has condemned US air attacks on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, saying the raids will not deter their attacks on Israeli ships in the Red Sea. “The US raids on the capital, Sanaa, are a continuation of the aggression launched with Britain to protect Israel and encourage it to continue its crimes in the Gaza Strip,” said Mohammed Abdul-Salam in a post on X.
“We confirm that the raids will not prevent us from continuing to target Israeli ships or those heading to the ports of occupied Palestine.”
