The IDF has to walk back another lie

Israeli military backtracks on photo of captured fighters

The Israeli military says a collage it posted on X of some of the 358 fighters it claims to have captured during its siege of al-Shifa Hospital mistakenly includes pictures of several fighters still at large. The fighters at large are believed to be barricaded in or near the hospital, the military said in a statement.

Israeli forces, it added, are “continuing work to arrest them” and will publish all their identities “once the operation is over”.

The pictures also included doctors and other civilians and people not currently in Gaza according to Hamas. Also the number of captured "fighters" has been fluctuating between 200 and 800 depending on which IDF official tells the story.

Israel torches al-Shifa Hospital department: Gaza Health Ministry

Israel has bombed several buildings at al-Shifa Hospital and burned down its vascular department, Gaza’s Health Ministry says. Israel forces also detained about 240 patients and 10 health personnel at the Prince Nayef Center, the hospital’s radiology unit, the ministry added.

Hamas has condemned what it calls Israel’s “bloody massacre” at al-Shifa and said civilians, patients and displaced people were among dozens of fatalities.

Al-Shifa, the Gaza Strip’s largest hospital before the current conflict started, is one of the few healthcare facilities that is even partially operational in the north of the enclave.

Israeli bulldozers attack al-Shifa Hospital

This Al Jazeera verified video from inside the perimeter of the besieged al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City shows Israeli bulldozers and armoured vehicles wreaking havoc. Intense battles have been ongoing for days inside and in the vicinity of the hospital, with the latest Israeli military operation at al-Shifa coming months after it first laid siege to the key medical complex.

Death toll in Gaza rises past 32,000 in Israel’s war on Gaza

The number of people killed in the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip now stands at 32,070, the health ministry says in a statement. At least 74,298 people have been injured since October 7. The latest figures include 82 people who died and 110 who were wounded over the past 24 hours.

Thousands of bodies remain buried in the debris after months of Israeli bombardment, meaning the actual death toll is far higher.
