The padding is there for people who appreciate the gameplay bits and collecting missions, why should they remove something harmless that many gamers appreciate? It's like saying we also should remove all collectibles, missions and hidden items in any game |
Why was I doing a minigame to move Aeris over a robot hand when said robot hand took 1 second to run past in the original? Was that needed? Is that 'gameplay' people appreciate?
Or what of the quick time event dancing minigame as well, that wasn't in the original, just so you can get earrings to look pretty for the Don? Actually know what I always wondered, to know more about the guard in from of don Corneo's mansion who had 1 line of dialogue by giving them an entire mission you had to do. Even the whole Jessie backstory and that mission was all pointless and not needed. It's all padding.
There is a difference between optional and required filler.
There is only so much overworked character models and animations can help when no one is complaining about the game looking good, they are complaining about the amount of needless busywork to get to do what once took barely a few hours to complete.
Well, I am at least.
Hmm, pie.
