It was fairly predictable, a lot of people already guessed but at least now we have confirmation, FWIW from the context, it looks as though exclusivity for the trilogy was signed BEFORE Final Fantasy 7 remake even released so prior to the new CEO of Square Enix so don't go blaming him, Lol.

Gematsu

"According to Svennson, console exclusivity was mutually desired by Sony Interactive Entertainment and Square Enix when the Final Fantasy VII Remake project began."

I have to imagine that either Square was looking for a backer day 1 to reduce risk, or perhaps even that Sony wanted FFVII to happen in the first place and made some offers to Square.

Yeah, maybe.

Although, I think it's a bit crazy to sign an exclusivity deal for 3 GAMES before the 1st is even released.

But it's clear this agreement was made before Remake was released so, I won't be talking trash about Square's current CEO.
