Xbox is now claiming that the next Xbox (it's now confirmed Series X/S won't be the last) will be the largest generational leap of all-time. I do not understand that strategy. Xbox already has broad support for PC gaming, so why worry about a powerful console that will still fall short of some very powerful gaming PCs? Software and Game Pass will sell Xbox consoles, not big specs.

That was from Sarah bond likely.

Xbox president Sarah Bond teased that Microsoft will deliver “the largest technical leap” with the next-generation Xbox and mentioned:

"We’ve got more to come. There’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday. " - sarah bond

Update, February 21st 7:15PM ET: Article updated to note that references to new Xbox hardware was removed from Microsoft’s blog post before it was posted publicly.

Now its got people debateing weither this means MS is not sure about new hardware, or if its just the "this holidays" part.

The messageing is bad as always.

You got people going into panic mode again saying things like:

"You’re in denial if you can’t see all the signs:
-Hardware has stopped being made;
-MS removed reference of future hardware coming;
-Xbox has already started being rebranded to Microsoft Gaming;
-Games are officially going third party."  - bitbydeath

That assume MS isnt all on the same page, about new hardware for xbox.
The "hardware has stopped being made" is apparently from factories in china, where parts for the xbox series consoles have shut down for now.
Likely because they made more than they have sold, and dont want them to continue to pile up in warehouses.  Even PS5 was rumored to have turned down production, after these holidays so.... yeah grain of salt, but its there.

Bitbydeath got quouted with this:

"They literally removed the XBX/S logos off all their games branding (and off the Game Pass branding), and ordered stores to remove physical games and trash them (that have that Xbox Series branding) at MS's own expense.

And the only way to get physical for "4 of the most beloved fan favorites" coming to the largest console platforms, is left up to LRG to provide.

How are people not seeing this?"

"Not to mention Blade was announced without platforms, which is even more interesting now that we know they were in active development of PS5 ports at the time of that announcement (SOT, HiFi Rush, Etc)

And there is a job listing posted by 343 to develop the next Halo for "all players on all platforms."

Pentiment labled as from Micosoft Games studios (not xbox)
Remember the Microsoft Game-pass thingy? (ei. ditching xbox branding)

Right now, it doesn't take much for people to read into things.
Xbox should just be super clear in its messageing.
Instead it looks so messy from the outsides.
