With game development funded by Gamepass subscriptions on cloud, PC, and Xbox, and full price releases on those platforms plus Playstation & Switch, how could Microsoft make a loss on games? At the very least this would result in lots of additional funding flowing in than present.

And if Xbox consoles hold their price and are sold at cost, even if sales slow, this doesn't result in a loss either. Putting the xbox division in a reasonably strong position. It wouldn't be winning the console war, but it would be building a wealth of content on its subscription service that will stay valuable going forward, and will continue to exist in a fashion to draw people in to it. With the very real likelihood, within the next decade people begin to shift from a "got to have the latest greatest console" mindset, to one which aligns more with.. just give me my content anywhere and everywhere, where people are able to game easily, cheaply and successfully with simply a screen, controller and internet connection.

Netflix won because it is cheap, easy and everywhere, and has compelling content, that it can successfully finance. Tell me Xbox if they follow the above wouldn't be offering the same?
