Not sure what you mean exactly, but Tekken has had rather unserious elements for a long time.

This isn't a case of unserious moments. This story felt like something written for a Shonen anime. There is nothing "Tekken" about the story. The only thing I liked about it, is that for Tekken 9, Kazuya will definitely be the protagonist and get his redemption ark.
