Wednesday news, the second part:

The first Diablo and Warcraft games just appeared on Battle.net
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-first-diablo-and-warcraft-games-just-appeared-on-battlenet/
Blizzard has announced that Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, Diablo, and Warcraft 2 are now available on Battle.net, though it was news to me that they weren't on there already. The games have been available on GOG for the last 3-4 years, and it seems that when Blizzard committed to remastering certain of its older titles itself it handed the more straightforward re-releases to the CD Projekt-owned store (these are the original games, not remasters).

Tencent boss worried that in the face of 'significant challenges' and competition it has 'achieved nothing'
https://www.pcgamer.com/tencent-boss-worried-that-in-the-face-of-significant-challenges-and-competition-it-has-achieved-nothing/
The behemoth that is Tencent is one of the most dominant players in the game industry, but CEO and co-founder Pony Ma recently acknowledged that the competition is catching up and that recent game launches haven't lived up to expectations.

Helskate's a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater-meets-roguelike with good ideas, but its Steam Next Fest demo left me feeling like it can't land its combos yet
https://www.pcgamer.com/helskates-a-tony-hawks-pro-skater-meets-roguelike-with-good-ideas-but-its-steam-next-fest-demo-left-me-feeling-like-it-cant-land-its-combos-yet/
I was pretty excited about Helskate—though after trying its Steam Next Fest demo, I'm not sure it's really pulled its disparate parts together in the way it needs to. Not yet, anyway—it's a pre-early access glimpse at what its devs have been cooking, so there's still room for improvement.
>> Weird intro given that the latest Steam Next Fest happened months ago and this article is about a new trailer that announces its Early Access launch, but ok.

2K confirms Spec Ops: The Line has been removed from sale because of expiring 'partnership licenses'
https://www.pcgamer.com/spec-ops-the-lines-sudden-removal-from-steam-baffles-its-director-why-has-this-happened/
Highly-regarded third-person military shooter Spec Ops: The Line has been removed from sale on Steam and other digital storefronts, and nobody seems to know why—not even the game's designer and director.
(...)
In the end, that's what it turned out to be. In a statement provided to PC Gamer, a 2K Games rep said "Spec Ops: The Line will no longer be available on online storefronts, as several partnership licenses related to the game are expiring."

I accidentally bred one of the rarest Palworld pals, but they have the most ridiculous stats
https://www.pcgamer.com/i-accidentally-bred-one-of-the-rarest-palworld-pals-but-they-have-the-most-ridiculous-stats/
Please say hello to my new favorite pal, who I've named Cake Boss Kitsun. This rare elemental fox has the dubious honor of being the most specialized pal, a total accident of great genetics and bad luck from my very first specially bred pal egg. Even though he's tragically specialized, I did find a way easier breeding combo for this rare pal than the advice I've seen circulated so far.
>> And a dataminer has found a hidden pal that looks a lot like Mewtwo.

Destiny 2 game director Joe Blackburn is leaving Bungie for 'a new adventure'
https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-game-director-joe-blackburn-is-stepping-down/
Destiny 2 game director Joe Blackburn, who's led development of the sci-fi shooter since 2020, is leaving Bungie.
In a series of X posts, Blackburn announced on January 30 that he'll embark on "a new adventure outside the walls of Bungie" next month at the start of a major testing phase for upcoming Destiny 2 expansion The Final Shape.
>> But hey, there are new Mass Effect armor sets for the game.

Enshrouded player discovers the best way to fly isn't using a glider, it's using a bed
https://www.pcgamer.com/enshrouded-player-discovers-the-best-way-to-fly-isnt-with-a-glider-its-with-a-bed/
There are a few ways to get around in survival RPG Enshrouded. Running, obviously, and using your grappling hook to yank yourself across broken bridges and chasms. There's also plenty of fast travel between ancient spires, your bases, and any flame altars you've placed in the world. Best of all you can leap off something tall and use a glider to soar across the landscape until you run out of stamina.
But have you considered… just going to sleep instead? One Enshrouded player has discovered a glitch that means jumping into your bed actually sends you floating into the air and across the sky for as long as you want, all while expending zero effort.

The Long Dark creative director teases 'good things happening in the Unannounced Survival Games space'
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-long-dark-creative-director-teases-good-things-happening-in-the-unannounced-survival-games-space/
The wintry solo survival game The Long Dark has been around a long time—it launched into early access in 2014 and updates have been rolling ever since—but it looks like developer Hinterland Games is preparing to move on to something new. Studio founder and creative director Raphael van Lierop made a return to Twitter last night to drop a brief teaser for an unannounced project.

Blood Bowl 3 gets league admin tools at last, though in beta form
https://www.pcgamer.com/blood-bowl-3-gets-league-admin-tools-at-last-though-in-beta-form/
One of the frustrating things about Blood Bowl 3 was that it launched without features Blood Bowl 2 had, including ways for players to manage their own multiplayer leagues. Being able to remove teams when players drop out and decide which special rules your tournament wants to play with are basic features for a Blood Bowl game, and only now, 11 months after release, have they been added.

Rainbow Six Siege players are already selling gun skins for hundreds of dollars in new marketplace beta
https://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-six-siege-players-are-already-selling-gun-skins-for-hundreds-of-dollars-in-new-marketplace-beta/
Longtime Rainbow Six Siege players may soon find they're sitting on a gold mine. Today, Ubisoft kicked off the beta for the Rainbow Six Marketplace, a website that allows players to sell their unwanted cosmetics for R6 Credits. The marketplace is viewable by anyone, but Ubisoft is only allowing select beta testers to buy and sell items for now.

Spiderweb's remaster of classic CRPG Geneforge 2 gets a March release date
https://www.pcgamer.com/spiderwebs-remaster-of-classic-crpg-geneforge-2-gets-a-march-release-date/
Last year a Kickstarter for a remastered version of Spiderweb Software's CRPG Geneforge 2 passed its humble $30,000 goal and raised $76,777 based on its promise of "Open ended fantasy role-playing fun with your own army of custom-made mutant monsters." That remaster, which is called Geneforge 2 – Infestation, will be out on March 27.

WoW's experimental ban on 'GDKP' raids in Season of Discovery has set the community on fire—here's why
https://www.pcgamer.com/wows-experimental-ban-on-gdkp-raids-in-season-of-discovery-has-set-the-community-on-fire-heres-why/
As announced by Blizzard in its Season of Discovery Phase 2 post, gold dragon kill points (GDKP) raids in World of Warcraft Classic are going the way of the dodo on February 8. The dev team wants to "try things without this type of transaction taking place"—that's a huge experiment, considering how GDKP raids have become a key part of the community's lifeblood.
