1) Japanese Narative going on here is also silly, It isn't the case that the PS released in Japan and owned, it took them +2 years to finally beat the Saturn thanks to high investments. Japanese gamers weren't much of a fan at first especially when it had no JRPG's and no history while Sega had JRPGs and N64 was coming...
2) Hi fi did not only release on Xbox it also released on PC in Japan that has a 10-15 million userbase it is a benefit that MS has. Releasing a game outside your ecosystem will not benefit you ecosystem but worse also will cost time meaning next game will probably be effected by it and less people potentially joining your ecosystem meaning less money that you and devs will make in your ecosystem and again damaging your ecosystem...
