It's pretty much a consensus that the RE4 Remake is not completely better than the original game.  The original game had better voice acting, Ramon Salazar was a better villain in the original game plus they removed sections of the original game.

It lacks suspense, focused too much on action and getting OP, those are my 'complaints'. While still dying a lot from 'gotcha' instant deaths.

What sections did they remove? I like the quieter sections where you get to explore a bit, did they cut some of those? Boating around the lake, coming back to the village for treasure, walking around with the blue lamp as Ashley, exploring the Depths, those are my favorite sections. The boss fights are my least favorite, like the Ramon boss fight, I just don't find that fun enough to engage with. Reminds me of the RE7 boss fight in the boat house, which was my least fun part in RE7. I'm currently in some high tech sneaking part with automatic machine guns and armored guards with shock weapons. Where is the horror... (And why didn't I get to drive the speed boat humbug lol)

And some things don't work that well in VR. Yesterday I spend half an hour trying to deface the portrait of Ramon as throwing an egg proved to be nearly impossible lol. (It was literally impossible at first since I had throwing set to type B which simply puts the egg back in your inventory no matter how you try to throw it, bugged)

My opinion might change on NG+ as it seems designed for that. Everything feels like a bullet sponge on my first play through, need to upgrade the weapons a lot or it takes a bunch of head shots just for the simple enemies.

Anyway not focused on the voice acting as that's all 2D cut scenes. But maybe the original had better pacing.
