I serve as a soldier in Cyprus for 2 days so I can't tell you much; the island is very dry (no forests, rare rivers etc) due to very high temperatures (even 47C in August!) but since you are on vacation, that shouldn't be a problem as the island has awesome beaches and many tourists like you.
