When they announced 40m it was 11 days after they had passed so if they have passed 50m now we'll get it announced by the end of the year. (They announced 40m sell-through as of July 16th 2023 on July 27th 2023)

They announced 30 million on January 4, but sell-through wise the PS5 was at 31.01M, according to Sony's figures. So we shall see if Sony decides to until the start of the new year before announcing 50 million.
