Runoff 2014, Game of the Year

Mario Kart 8 for me. Obviously it’s been surpassed by the Deluxe version, but in 2014 it was a stellar racer with amazing orchestral music, beautiful visuals, excellent track design, tight driving controls, and a bold new way to play thanks to the spatial freedom provided by anti-gravity.
