Not a hugely interesting year for me, but I had enough to play from the previous years if I was playing at all because gaming wasn't really on the forefront of my mind due to increasing problems within my family. However from this year I did end up playing Red Dead Redemption, God of War III and Mario Galaxy 2. From the 'other' list I only played Bioshock 2. Besides those I also played Napoleon Total War and Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2.

Sadly I wouldn't really get into Napoleon, unlike Empire, Medieval II and Rome before it. I'm not really sure why, I was probably content with the earlier games, or it's because the campaign map in Napoleon is much smaller than Empire's. Bioshock 2 wouldn't grab me either in spite of it being a great game, and I found Red Dead Redemption to be boring like GTAIV so I dropped that quickly as well.

Mario Galaxy 2 was great however and completed it at some point. While gameplay and levels were obviously great, I disliked the simple Mario head hubworld with its simple stage select screen versus the Observatory from the first game and the lack of a nice backstory like the original's Rosalina story. The Force Unleashed 2 was more of the first game, which was fun and I guess satisfying. The story made no sense though in light of the canon Star Wars saga (when the expanded universe was still canon anyway). The game was ridiculously short though.

Then I played God of War III, because it looked cool and it dealt with Greek mythology. The storyline was fun and interesting and the action and setpieces were great. The game isn't enough to take a place amongst my all-time favourites, but it the best game of 2010. I vote God of War III.
