Based on Ukrainian official data, the number of Shaheds used lately was rather uneven. Russians averaged around 9 Shaheds per past ten strikes (Source:UAF) pic.twitter.com/fhPd9dqVWC
The same pertains to battlefield missile strikes, which have also been on a downward trajectory. Upticks occur rarely, but even in these cases, Russians don't usually fire more than 15 missiles per day (Source: UGS) pic.twitter.com/O89jZ6l5Gb

Last year, Russians started the strikes in early October 2022 and concluded the campaign in March 2023. They conducted attacks every fortnight on average and expedited more than 1,000 missiles in the process. The grid survived, but Moscow was close to attaining its objective.

Today Ukrainians commemorate the victims of Holodomor, which is probably the reason behind this unusual uptick in the use of Shaheds. We will know in a few days whether this hypothesis is correct. The perspectives for winter, nevertheless, remain bleak.
