Yea idk what MS is doing at this point. They could have easily remained the best OS if they simple continued to follow the path of Windows 7 but adding in new features like DX12 Ultimate and such. Instead we have to deal with their nonsense OS ideas that increasingly gets worse every time. The only reason really is the software compatibility of Windows for me to keep using it but as Valve is putting a lot of effort into Steam OS, it might just be my go to. Especially since they started supporting Nvidia drivers a bit ago.

Their original plan of just crafting an OS that could be added upon was something they honestly should have stuck with, instead of "oh boy, let's go back to shit OS, good OS, shit, shit OS, good OS, treadmill".

They struck it really good with 7, and things were fine, but 8 was like several steps back and they had to pull such a 180 to course correct that mistake, and now it feels like they're just having a repeat of that again, and I cba with playing to that same tune again for another decade...

I just wanna play my games man, I don't need a mega corp fucking around with OS's for the normies that do fuck all with 80% of the OS. Just make it good for gaming and literally stop there. The normies really don't need anything else added to the OS, as they already have external apps for their needs anyway.

Well from rumours going around that Steam OS is being made ready for other portable devices, it does also make it sound like they'll take another stab with Steam machines down the line, so I'm hoping they'll have refined it for proper desktop rig use, and that's when I make my exit from Windows for good (I can stick with 10 for old apps anyway, as it'll be a build that will no longer require a net connection).

I'm just really tired with having my games, mods and general performance fucked around with every 5 yrs, because someone at MS thinks PC gamers love playing OS musical chairs and added spyware/bloat.

Starting to see why Amiga fans are still holding onto their stuff.
