XBOX 360
What I like:
- Achievements
- XBox Live games can be big, more akin to full-size games and digital distribution of retail games isn't out of the question
- There are a couple of games for it that I like (Fable 2 and Civilization Revolution)
Why I'm not getting it:
- Already have a current-gen console (having two would be too expensive)
- Game library has too much in common with that of the PC
Playstation 3
What I like:
- Consistent numbering (PS1, PS2, PS3)
- Good quality (my TV is a Sony Wega and it's been very reliable)
- There's a game for it that I like (Civilization Revolution)
Why I'm not getting it:
- It's just outright too expensive
- If I were to purchase a BluRay player, I'd probably look at getting a drive for my PC (greater flexibility)
Wii
What I like:
- Massive multiplayer (almost) out of the box, supports up to four players provided you have the remotes (no multitap required)
- Great graphics (miles better than my SNES. which was getting on anyway)
- Plays all of my SNES games! Plus all of my NES games, and lots of games I never even had through emulation
- Takes up very little space
- Motion control, a completely new way to play and experience games
- Effectively has a mouse, allows for genres never previously considered for consoles (point-and-click)
- Talks to my DS
- On/off on the controller, smart and makes the Wii remote more 'remote-like'
- Aural feedback through the controller
- When the controller requires both hands, there's no need to keep your hands in the same position (more flexible, comfortable)
- Supports wireless networking out of the box
- Miis, a game-independent representation of yourself that feature in a number of games
- The Mii Contest Channel lets you download Miis that look like cartoon characters
- Many peripherals for added realism (wheel, zapper)
- Keeps me physically active (especially Wii Fit)
The Wii is obviously my system of choice. I'm also hoping Fable 2 comes to PC and Civilization Revolution gets taken off hold for the Wii.
