Fucking layoffs won't stop.

This has been such a great year for games but literally everyone is laying off, fucking sucks, I'm anxious that Xbox will go another round too.

Best year in gaming since 2007?!?!

Also, the most layoffs in history!

It's also just after a period where a lot of new studios were popping left and right. Also I think Xbox, while not perfectly safe from another round of layoffs, have reasons that make it unlikely for them in the short/mid term. They have a clear visions and goal to push for right now and, more so than any other actor or any other period in Xbox existence, need max output from all cylinder.

It sucks big time for Bungie, looks like their 'remain independent' status have limits. They wanted to avoid MS for the experience they had 15 years ago but, as the saying goes, "he who chooses takes the worst"

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of Jason Jones either, I don't think he's that brilliant of a leader. People shit talk 343 for having development issues but Bungie was also notorious for horrific development issues throughout Halo 1-3 which they openly speak about, it was a miracle that any Halo even released. Jason Jones is also well known as hating sequels and yet decided to lead Halo 2 but then abandoned the team during Halo 3's development, without picking a successor leader, leaving it leaderless which resulted in chaos.

Joe had an argument with Marcus which resulted in Joe leaving the team completely which left Halo 3 without a lead writer and without the lead writer of Halo 1-2 so it became disjointed to Halo 2 and had to use essentially a skeleton writing team which resulted in a frigging composer writing story beats and gave us the mid Halo 3 story which I'll always criticise and the genius idea that "it's the last Halo, so someone has to die!" without any more thought than that which gave us the shitty deaths of Miranda and Johnson.

Then Destiny 1 with scrapping of Joe's story a year from release which resulted in him leaving, now it looks like Destiny 2 has mismanagement issues which are being called out by former employees. The most recent DLC was hated more than usual by the typically whiny Destiny fans and I believe that is more contributing to the layoffs through a loss of revenue and now the delays of the next expansion and their next game, Matter is also MIA still despite the $100m investment from NetEase 4 years ago.
