The amount of responsibility given to Sarah is crazy, Lol. Like Matt is basically just, same role but expanded to Zenimax. Sarah's had a bunch of extra shit slapped on her plate

  • Hardware
  • Player & Creator Experiences (I think this covers stuff like Game Pass, xCloud, along with working with 3rd parties, and things like Havok, Azure, Xbox Live, Gamestack, etc).
  • Platform Engineering (I guess OS?).
  • Strategy/Business Planning, Data, Business Development (Obvious).

So, Sarah is now the person to get spammed about green lighting Xbox handheld.

It's great to see marketing budgets increase, but IMO it's a bit too late for a console generation that started 3 years ago at this point.

I don't think they are seriously trying to compete with PlayStation because they know they can't beat them at this stage and I actually fully agree with them that they can't beat PlayStation anymore, I've said since the start that this generation will likely end up with PlayStation once again selling around double Xbox. I believe Xbox is focused more on profit margins now as well and are happy with 3rd place as long as they are profitable.

This Brazilian move is dumb as hell though, far too extreme of a price hike, Series S the same price as PS5 Digital is dumb and Brazil is a market that Xbox is strong in where Series S was selling good so while I think the above for the general pricing strategy of Xbox, when I look at Brazil specifically, I can only conclude this is a dumb as shit move, Lol. Like fair enough if you've given up on beating Sony in general but this is way too extreme.

You can match Sony's pricing, that's fine by me, Xbox ain't ever beating PlayStation again in the wider picture but we're talking about the Series S being the same price as the PS5 Digital which is a lot more powerful than the Series S, Lol. It's a bit of a fuck you to Brazilian customers and basically unless you really love Xbox exclusives makes PS5 the only sensible option from a financial standpoint.

To sum up, this price increase needs to be reversed.

I still don't agree with this narrative that Xbox should not try to compete with Playstation and this 2:1 ratio is set in stone. Nintendo turned things around massively with Switch coming off from WiiU (and 3DS as well) as its predecessors. I don't see why Xbox can't do the same if they provide compelling product. Even if they can't beat Playstation, the focus should be on trying to do so anyway otherwise what's even the point to be in business if you are not aiming to be the best. And what I don't understand even more is how a large part of Xbox userbase repeats this same damn excuse that Phil used in that interview earlier in the year when he said that. I personally don't give a shit about Xbox outselling Playstation but I understand that Xbox needs to sell significantly more than the current 50m baseline (Xbox One and most likely Series X/S gen as well) in order to resolve software problem when certain games just miss Xbox platform as it's too small to be worthy of investing into making a port sometimes. I only care about Xbox not missing out on games, not outselling Playstation, but I still can't agree with this narrative that they shouldn't try with console sales.

Okay, I'm having a hard time following those two statements back to back. Is it too late or not?
