IRS going after Microsoft for 28.9 billion in back taxes. Microsoft plans to litigate it, but could interrupt any additional acquisitions after the Activision deal closes.

They profit about $60bn-$70bn a year so I very much doubt this would stop them from further acquiring, also they plan on appealing which will take years. Things which will slow down their acquisitions will more so be things like interest rates on the wealth of cash sitting in their bank. I seriously doubt Microsoft makes another major publisher acquisition in gaming aside from maybe Sega in the future but I anticipate they will make a series of smaller independent studio acquisitions still and acquisitions outside of Gaming.

Point is they aren't going to let the IRS put their business plans on hold for years if they want to acquire someone.
