I'm impressed that they made the stand dumber.
I thought the current stand was at least reasonable. It was included and it supported both horizontal and vertical; and had the little screw trick. Even though it was suboptimal, it at least felt like it was mostly thought out.
And now you have to buy a worse stand for vertical. Although I'm curious how bad it will be.
Although I wonder how many people will not use the stand. It looks like it might be flatter than the current model, so it might need the stand less.
