This is had to be the year, the SNES buried the Genesis. Snes coming out with Donkey Kong Country, Metroid, Final Fantasy VI, Earthbound, and Super Punch Out. At least Sega got a taste of next generation power with the 32x this year and the Saturn in Japan. Ultimately I have to go with my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time in Final Fantasy VI, but it is so hard not to say Donkey Kong Country when nothing looked like it at that time. Going to be nice to see the Playstation 1 added in 95 and N64 added in 96.

LOL, yes!

The previous two years were actually pretty weak for SNES releases, and they were actually pretty strong for the Genesis.  Add in that Genesis had the main sports titles and more arcade ports, and you can see why it was ahead of the SNES for a couple of years in North America.  (Technically, I think it outsold the SNES during '93 and '94, but North American release dates are about 1 year behind original release dates.)  The games in this year's list made the SNES reclaim the lead.

Next year will also be a very strong year for the SNES.  There will be Playstation games entering the list too, but Playstation sales weren't monumental the first couple of years.  (They weren't bad either.)  If you were a gamer in '95, you would have had more fun on a SNES than a Playstation, IMO, so gamers really could sit back and enjoy the tail end of SNES releases.
