I never really understood the hate against Jim Ryan. Then again he wasn't in charge very long. On the other hand it was always weird to me how much praise Phil Spencer got when IMO he has failed to deliver for a very long time. Phil's had almost 10 years and I just haven't seen anything from Xbox.

When Phil did that interview with Destin basically blaming Larian for BG3 not working on Series S it was pretty disgusting. He knows he's had multiple devs complaining about that machine and he still is willing to throw devs under the bus like that. Devs that worked so hard on their game and to just trash them so casually like that I couldn't believe it.

I'm not saying your lying or changing facts here. But could you give me the actual quote where he done this and also a link to the Interview/Article.

And anyone who thinks Phil has not been working to turn the xbox brand around imo is being delusional. Sure he hasn't done the best but with what he had to work with compared to what Jim had to work with is a night and day difference..

Here's a link

"In terms of the two platforms, I want games to launch on both platforms. There are feature differences between the platforms. We have an ability to kind of handle that and how it works. Where teams are going to choose to focus their time and their effort is up to them. We're here to support them and what they want to go do. We want to make sure that games when they're launching on competitive platforms are also launching on Xbox.

So we're going to learn from this experience as well because we don't love that. But I don't think it's something that's a fatal flaw in the system. It's partners prioritizing their time, us listening and being a good partner to them. And you see some amazing games doing great work across S and X. Diablo looks great, Starfield looks great. Forza looks great across both. And I want to make sure console gaming is accessible to more people, and we think the price point of the console is a pretty important part of that."

That's basically throwing Larian under the bus, if they had budgeted their time better it would have worked on Series S... I guess not since it's not coming later either.

There's been plenty disgruntled developers about the Series S parity
https://www.destructoid.com/xbox-series-s-compatibility-hardware-technology-developers/

And, in other testimony, Alexander Battaglia of the technically-focused Digital Foundry has noted that they frequently hear of studio frustrations, hindered by the Xbox Series S’ reduced memory limitations and facilitating the need to adapt design plans specifically to fit a “next-gen” game’s design onto the cheaper model.

But got to have a cheaper box to push game pass and expensive additional storage!

"Sure he hasn't done the best but with what he had to work with compared to what Jim had to work with is a night and day difference.."

Sure is night and day difference, Phil had a war chest of close to 80 billion. What did Jim have to work with ;)

Anyway it's good Jim is leaving, but it probably won't change much.
