I think the PC situation will stay so long as they get good ROI; though latest titles have flopped somewhat on Steam. They do still have Bungie and Nixxies for Marathon plus Destiny and ports of whichever PS titles. And I can't see there be much changes there.

Just hope the next guy isn't so much of a bean counter and someone who's passionate about bringing unique titles out there. We kind of lost that this generation. Its just been a boring, safe and predictable PS. With a load of remakes, sequels for big name and budget titles adn not much in between.

Tbh I'm kinda burned out on consoles this gen. Nothing really unique about them, with ports of games coming from Xbox and PS there's been less reasons to own one. And the games themselves fairly predictable and just mostly.. eh. Whoever they pick for the next CEO.. man fingers crossed they will bring the excitement back in SiE. And put Naughty Dog back on track on worthwhile project ffs and stop wasting time on nonsense.

This is that point in time where companies shouldn't be replacing one higher up with another bean counter. That old guard should be dying off as we get older (I know it won't indefinitely, but it should still lessen to a degree where we start to eventually see gamers running the show, instead of boomers who know nothing about gaming like Bobby).

I feel SOny dropped the ball this gen because they were coasting on last gen's outright success (that and MS heavily tripped up). This gen they seem to just be copying what MS was doing partway through the gen (MS seems to be correcting this and somewhat trying to put out at least the odd few SP instead of live services, but they are still releasing more MP based games).

I think the one thing that really stood out to me though, was that letter Phil spencer had wrote on "AAA not really doing much of anything innovative", and that does ring true. There are a lot of AAA's the past gen or two that are copying a trend setter, instead of taking bold risks and trying to set trends themselves (like hoe we have a stupid amount of Souls-likes, because that crowd is safe and big, or BR games, because that's always a flavour of the month, or live services, because there's always some guppy buying £30 skins at the cash shop/Battle pass).

For me personally, I think the Switch is the last console I'll ever own tbh. I wasn't a fan of how over time, I was getting less and less investment out of my Switch and I just wasn't happy with how Nintendo basically washed their hands of the drift issue (no one on my island repairs stick drift, and I'm not paying postal to any company that can, because that defeats the point, I shouldn't have to pay to have my joycons fixed, when it is Nintendo who should be paying for the damage).

I've even recently started to start looking into physical emulation via the Analogue pocket handheld (that device looks like both a godsend and a nice throwback to the GBC days, and I'm all there for that), and I feel like the Steam Deck would be a nice complimentary system to my literal Steam account, because it means I just have to pay for the Deck, not having to pay £60-70 a pop all over again for the games (like Nintendo wants me to with the Switch, and that is such a missed opportunity for Nintendo to pass up on giving customers past BC on their previous purchases.

These days I just feel like owning a console isn't worth it, because I already own a machine that's capable of running games (maybe not the latest games the way I want, but still better than how current gen is getting fps locked to 30/60 and less), and I'm not gaining access to games from other systems, so I feel there is less incentive to buy the other systems, but that's not because they are "losing" the games, it's because they aren't being innovative with their systems and they charge for online, or tie discounts to subscriptions and that's just not a good deal to me (also I really don't like the idea of bringing renting back to gaming, like MS is doing with GP, I rpefer to own or at least have the games I want on my SSD at all times and not having to pay to keep them there constantly).
