Yeah I’ll never understand this weird obsession people have with using Rare as an example of MS bad coz last time I checked SoT is the most successful game Rare has ever done so in hindsight by their own logic, Nintendo was bad for them.

Combination of being stuck in the past, a certain subset of users not liking multiplayer titles so all multiplayer titles must suck, hurt at "losing" Rare and if Rare doesn't do exactly what I want then they suck. I wish gamers would understand that just because something doesn't meet your preferences, it doesn't mean it sucks for everyone or the studio is dead, Lol.

There's a bit of an arrogance, annoying attitude from a subset of internet gamers where they seem to act like only single-player titles count, all multiplayer titles suck, they honestly act as though they're better gamers than people who prefer multiplayer titles and I say this as someone who now prefers single-player titles, Lol. That attitude is toxic and annoying as fuck.

And it's funny to moan about Rare doing a multiplayer title since Rare across their entire history has done a variety of completely different genres. Not to mention that Sea of Thieves is something which Rare has wanted to do since the 90s! But nah Rare should always do EXACTLY what I say and they should NEVER do anything different.

Honestly, I played Rare Replay and I hated most of their early titles, Lol. But I wouldn't say that they were ruined back then! They just aren't my thing, I found most of them boring, or having awful controls. I also loved Viva Pinata and it's something I'm constantly asking to bring back. Not even like Rare's 360 titles were critically panned aside from Grabbed by the Ghoulies.

People will moan about Kinect Sports but the first one was a commercial success and it was actually pretty fun but it was a short fad and after Kinect Sports they should have moved onto other things. Rare Replay was a great collection regardless of my dislike of the older titles and Sea of Thieves has been a huge commercial success for them (their biggest ever) along with being a huge hit with the public too.

I put over 200 hours into Sea of Thieves, I don't really play multiplayer titles nowadays because I like to just move on to the next thing and because my internet is shit, Lol. But there's a lot of "it ain't Rare because it's multiplayer/it sucks because it's multiplayer" and I can say for sure these guys haven't touched the game because Sea of Thieves definitely still has a lot of that typical Rare whimsy and charm.

Just say you don't like multiplayer titles. Be honest. Don't try to convince everyone the studio is dead because they don't meet your specific criteria.

Forgot to mention even about Sea of Thieves being one of Microsoft's biggest revenue drivers of the past few years, Lol.

Bring Back Viva Pinata.
