Steam's peak on the day of that tweet was 269,177.

So a minimum of 730,823 were concurrently playing it across Xbox and Windows Store as well.

That is...More that I expected on the Xbox/Windows Store side, even if you half the number, more would be playing on Windows Store than Steam, that would be a bit of a shock to me, it could also be that the vast majority are playing on Xbox though because I find it hard to believe that Windows Store has more concurrent players than Steam for Starfield, unless the Game Pass effect was bigger than expected.

Anyway that's a very strong number for it being the middle of the work week.

I wouldn't say it's more than expected on the Xbox side but more so less than I expected on the Steam side it's number is basically the same as day one early access launch with zero growth on the release day implying everyone bought the premium edition and practically no one waited for the standard release which seems very odd, Maybe people are still to busy on Baldur's Gate 3 to bother with another multiple hundred hour RPG.

Moreso it depends on what the split is between Xbox and Windows Store, if the Windows Store has more players than Steam (concurrent) then that would be a surprise to me and indicate that Game Pass has been a bigger pull that I expected (despite how undesirable Windows Store is to many PC gamers). But it very well could be that the majority are on Xbox.

Also better to wait until the weekend, Starfield released during the middle of the work week, concurrent typically peak during a weekend.
