Eh... ok you don't dislike him he just annoys you. My bad for misunderstanding.
Again, it's about what works for him. Some people don't have the personalities for certain things. It's possible he just wasn't going to be happy in that environment. If so, then it's not really a bad thing that he won't be in it.
