Without spoiling anything, plenty of games have surprises benefits/Extra stuff to do after you finish' some' Main quest missions.
It is kind of funny how the history went:
MW: We advise you very strongly to do side quests and learn how the world works even the game will tell you so!!
Oblivion/Fallout 3: Freedom, do what you want
Skyrim: We advise you to do some main quest missions so you unlock the possibility of Dragon shouts
Fallout4: We don't know really, just go outside and built stuff
Starfield: Main quest first!
Only a few hours in and ignoring the Main quests =p. Is it me or were the traits hard to choose? And not that many aswell?
