but with major marketing hype push from Hasbro as owners of D&D brand.

What actually does Hasbro to market the game? Serrious question, because I don't see much in that regard. Sure, they probably tweet about it and stuff. But besides?

Serious answer - no bloody idea. Those are usually behind the closed doors deals, but given everything that was going on, all the hype prelaunch, review embargo, shitload of new user accounts on Meta with only "review" being brief sentence or two and 10/10 score, and Hasbro's CEO explicitly mentioning BG3 as their first of digital initiatives for D&D's digital future, it doesn't really require INT of 18 or higher to read between the lines. It is pretty common industry practice.

And that's OK - they are big brand, their shareholders have been criticizing them in last few years for D&D being under-monetized and it seems they are about to get berserk in that aspect with next incarnation of DnD, One DnD, as it's currently called, which is turning out to be something like 5.5e (to much disappointment of lot of players who were looking forward to 6e). So what I'm saying is - if this was D:OS3, I really doubt it would get that amount of attention from the press, nor the sales would be as high - DnD, and everything behind it, is a big contributing factor in BG3 success.
