We had situations like this before due to such oddballs like the 3060 12GB, the 760Ti having only 2GB while anything from the 730 to the 760 (and it's AMD counterparts) having 4GB variants, Radeon Fury's low amount of VRAM... it's nothing new, just more reported upon this gen due to the VRAM limitations in modern games. A for the 7700XT being worth it, it depends on the price. With the 7900GRE bein $650, I don't see the 7700XT at more than $450 to leave enough space for the 7800 variants and enough of a gap to the 7900 cards to be viable in any way, and $400 to be possible depending on the specs. |
Considering Radeons trend of "price new GPUs high so they can get dunked on during the reviews and make Nvidias counterparts seem more reasonable and then discount them after," I think the pricing will be:
7700XT $450
7800XT $550
Fast forward a month
7700XT $400
7800XT $500
