Baldur's Gate 3 is doing phenomenally on Steam and is one of the highest rated games of the year so far.

Despite saying they have no interest in being acquired, Sony seems to lock up studios that value their independence, such as Bluepoint and Insomniac. They would make a great addition to the PlayStation family, filling a gap in their portfolio, and would be a relatively cheap buy as well.

Apparently Tencent owns 30% of the company. It may very well be the case that they're happy and comfortable staying independent. So it feels unlikely.

But at the same time, I say this gen never say never. As you said, Bluepoint was pretty adamant about staying independent themselves just months before being acquired. And it would definitely be a strong studio to add.

If tencent owns 30% must be hard purchase, or sony starts to make some western rpgs or in a few years they have zero from third party studios because microsoft is getting everyone.
