Well, based on the Switch, we have a handheld that you can detach the buttons to became a controller, then the rest of the console you put in a dock connected to a TV to "become" a home console. What if in the next gen you not only could do that, but also detach the screen from the rest of the console? Keeping the joy cons and the screen, putting only the console in the dock and voila! You have a console similar to Wii U. I name this mode as "Dual Screen" mode to add to the existing ones. In my mind is very easy, I will leave to the design team in Nintendo to hack this up lol |
Oh, it's technologically feasible. You wouldn't need that kind of complex setup.
With the Switch, the Gamepad really did nothing except receive a feed from the console, and display it. If you wanted to make a Wii U like thing work, you would just have to flip it. Have the dock serve as the Gamepad, receiving a feed from the Switch, and displaying it on the TV. I think that would work. But, it means the hardware has to be designed to create two separate displays, and you have to have more technology in the dock itself, so I don't know if it would be economically feasible for a feature that didn't really take off the first time around.
