Nah VR is still very niche despite major push from multiple vendors. And most have backed off or slowly ramped down investments into it. And none really made a big splash in the mainstream- will see if Apple makes a dent but I have my doubts. Nintendo would be ill-advised to follow the same path especially considering they generally favor affordability factor into selling consoles. And they don't have any issues selling software as-is.
Their secret sauce is their IP's and they can produce and sell devices that has massive appeal through all ages, from their games. They don't need new gimmicks now that Switch is a winning formula for them. Just iterate and improve things like controllers, hardware - like storage, i/o etc
